Like a lot of people, I am often moved by and inspired by those who step outside of the comfortable boundaries of their lives to make a very real difference in the lives of others. I had the good fortune of meeting just such a person, Doc Hendley,  when I was working my way through college at a draught house in Raleigh, NC.

Affected by what he saw after he took some time off to travel the world during college, Doc came home and started an organization called Wine to Water that provides clean water to people in developing companies by raising money through wine tasting events. He’s made trips to Sudan, Ethiopia, Uganda and Cambodia to turn those proceeds into clean water wells and in the process has brought safe drinking water to over 25,000 people.

He is currently nominated as one of CNN’s Hereos of Year and winning could mean $125,000 towards his cause. It takes only a few seconds of your time to vote and could make a HUGE difference. I also encourage you to reblog and spread the word about Doc’s efforts - every little bit helps.
