This blog has been a lot of things. A love story. A new adventure. The journey of a women becoming comfortable with who she is and what she believes in.

I don't write here as often as I used to, but the stories I've left on these pages have made me who I am. I come back occasionally to put down thoughts and stories.

jacquelyndw-deactivated20111015 asked: Hi Melissa! Just wondering how you knew you were ready to be a mom. Like was it a feeling? Something you just knew? Thanks for all the inspiration!

I think I knew I was ready when the idea of being completely responsible for another person’s life didn’t make me feel jittery anymore. It took me a while to get there - and honestly, Brent and I were nervous to even admit we were “trying to have a baby” - we just didn’t know if we would even be able to have children. The first time we admitted we were trying was the day I learned I was pregnant - and when I found out - for about 5 minutes I was SCARED TO DEATH - (Like, Oh my gosh - what have we gotten ourselves into?)  and then as soon as that feeling passed I was enormously excited. I remember we took our dogs for a walk right after we found out and we just held hand and smiled at one another and it just felt so different and exciting to know there was a little tee tiny baby growing in there.
