This blog has been a lot of things. A love story. A new adventure. The journey of a women becoming comfortable with who she is and what she believes in.

I don't write here as often as I used to, but the stories I've left on these pages have made me who I am. I come back occasionally to put down thoughts and stories.

I came across a perfect little blue dress on ebay about a month ago that no one was bidding on. The minimum price was $7 and so I figured even though it would be months and months before I could even consider fitting into it, I couldn’t let it just slip away. It was just too pretty not to own, especially for seven dollars. Turns out no one but me ever bid on it and soon enough it was at my door.
It sat in my closet taunting me for weeks. The perfect shade of summer blue with darling open sleeves. I couldn’t even pull it up over my belly to pretend that it could fit me.
and so Kate and Nick came over last weekend for a night out and I asked if Kate would be interested in babysitting it for me during the spring and summer months until it one day would fit me again. It just didn’t seem right for such a pretty dress to sit in the back of my closet.
She sent me this photo today. Sitting out in the field next to their house on the farm with their calf Bella. It fits just as charmingly as I expected. This photo looks like a dream.
It makes me happy knowing this sweet dress is going to get lots of wear during the glorious North Carolina springtime.  A favorite friend and a favorite blue dress
Oh happy day!
Love,
M
P.S. lets start a campaign to make Kate start blogging again - nothing makes me happier than weekly glimpses of farm life on her blog, Longest Acres.

This is Oscar.
Kate and Nick’s newest injured piggy. Thanks to Nick, I know now he is an old spot mix. Unfortunately, only piglets who have had a serious injury get to go on their road trips to visit us, as the healthy guys have no reason to leave the farm. Oscar’s 600 pound mama accidently stepped on him causing a pretty serious injury to his front leg. He gets around pretty good on the three working ones (and I think the heaps of attention, snuggles, and yogurt he gets probably help too)
Life on a farm is about birth and death every single day. It’s really nice to see that they give these tiny guys a shot a normal pig life even when they’ve got a lot going against them. Remember Van Gogh from a few weeks ago? Despite his injuries, he’s nearly fully healed!
Hoping the same for little Oscar here.

We took a trip to visit Nick & Kate on the farm in Snow Camp.  As I’ve mentioned before, those crazy kids were like “WHATEVER CORPORATE AMERICA” and tossed their 9-5’s aside for a life of adventure. After months in the south of France, they’re now spending the summer working on a farm about an hour from Raleigh.

This is Vincent Van Gogh- he was born last night on the farm where Kate and Nick live. A turkey vulture swooped down and ate his siblings and his ear - So incredibly sad, but he’s such a fighter! Today he’s riding along with us watching traffic zip by.

How do you say “I miss you Kate!” in French? I’ve been lusting over the adventures of our dear friends Nick and Kate since they arrived in France. Oh to spend even a day with them exploring the countryside!

iletaitunefois:

today’s conclusion is that the alps make a great background for just about anything. including these pretty flowers that are the only flower left in this wintry place and with which i will be decorating the house tomorrow.

More Weekend in Review: We’ve acquired some new-to-us furniture pieces from our friend’s Nick and Kate who are moving to France soon. I spent some time this weekend cleaning and adjusting the furniture in our new arrangement. Meanwhile,. Brent tossed the occasional sentiment of “Looks great honey!” over his shoulder while he played Grand Theft Auto.

Our friends, Nick and Kate who live in our old Baker St building held the party in their stunning penthouse apartment. It’s always hard to pull myself away from the windows in their place, the view is just beautiful.
